Base rate held

Intererst Rate See-sawThe Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of England has voted this month to keep the base rate on hold at 0.5 per cent. There has been no expansion of the quantitative easing programme.

The rate has been at its historically low level since March 2009, with many experts saying they don’t expect to see a rise for a significant amount of time.
