We calculated the winners of the best-value lender awards based on statistics provided by Network Data Limited.

The statistics show the total interest charged to an existing borrower with a £100,000 interest-only mortgage over the last five years (1st January 2003 – 31st December 2007 inclusive) using each Lenders’ Standard Variable Rate (SVR).

The original capital loan remains outstanding and neither increases or decreases throughout the period.

The performance figures have been calculated by computer based on the following rules:

- Gross performance has been calculated on a daily basis

- The rates used are for existing borrowers’ accounts
