Figures for the House Price Index are provided by the Land Registry and show the average price of properties in the UK.
The data is updated quarterly and covers the majority of residential sales in England and Wales, whether or not they were financed with a mortgage. Where fewer than three sales have been recorded during the quarter no average is given. The figures are not seasonally adjusted.
Prices for Scotland are provided by the Register of Scotland Executive Agency and are based on every house sale in the country.
Currently we are unable to offer price information for Northern Ireland and Eire.
